The Centre, in collaboration with community groups in Suna West and the Nyatike area of Migori County, planted 4,800 seedlings under the Environmental Advocacy Support in Extractive Industries (EASEI) Project. A total of 2,000 seedlings were planted in the Nyatike Mirema Community Forest. This initiative was started by the Nyatike Community Forest Association Group to rehabilitate the forest through re-afforestation. The activity was attended by the Migori County Forest Officer, the Deputy County Commissioner of Nyatike Sub-County, the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) Officer in charge of Migori County, and forest security officers.

The remaining 2,800 seedlings were distributed to 30 individuals representing the other 3 groups (NEOA, RECOMIGRO and MICODEPRO ) for planting on their private land. Tree species planted included Senna siamea, Acacia polyacantha, Whistling Pine, Grevillea, Maesopsis eminii (commonly referred to as Makhamia lutea), and various fruit trees (avocado, pawpaw, orange, lemon, and passion fruit).
