On 11th March 2025, the Centre for Research, Training and Publications (CRTP) in collaboration with the British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA), French Institute in Research in Africa (IFRA) and Kenyatta University organized a mobility Conference themed Rethinking Mobility in Eastern and Central Africa: Beyond the Refugee Paradigm. The conference was attended by over 60 participants both physical and online. The conference brought together historians, religious leaders, experts working with refugees, as well as peace practitioners, policy makers and government officials. The presentations from the speakers and the round table discussion revealed that there is paradigm shift in migration, mobility and humanitarian aid assistance at present compared to the past. It was evident in the round table discussion that there is need for sustainable solutions to manage the mobility and borderless crisis. Further decolonization of humanitarian aid assistance and effective debt management practices should be given more priority.
