On 12 February 2026, Centre for Research, Training and Publication (CRTP) Hekima University College held a faculty research seminar on academic publishing on theology and social sciences, led by Prof. Elias Opongo and Dr. Anthony Egan. Prof. Opongo delivered a presentation on publishing at the intersection of theology and the social sciences, addressing common misconceptions between the two disciplines and emphasizing the value of interdisciplinary research in generating richer analysis while avoiding moral abstraction and empirical blindness. He also outlined key elements journals look for, including clear research questions, strong conceptual frameworks, and interdisciplinary engagement. Dr. Egan’s session focused on how to identify reputable journals, distinguish legitimate outlets from predatory journals, and strategically target high-ranking theology journals, underscoring the importance of publishing with integrity and quality
