The Centre for Research, Training and publications (CRTP) conducted a training on Advocacy on Mining and Environmental Sustainability in Migori and Kwale Counties as part of initiatives for Environmental Advocacy Support in Extractive Industries (EASEI). The workshop was conducted for two days between 15th to 16th November 2024 for Migori and 22nd to 23rd  November, 2024 for Kwale . The training was attended by 30 participants who were selected from the 8 groups the CRTP has been working with in implementing the Environmental Advocacy Support in Extractive Industry Project to promote environmental conservation and protection. The training covered the following thematic areas

  • Causes and effects and environmental and land degradation
  • Advocacy and policy frameworks related to mining and environmental sustainability
  • Ethics of environmental sustainability

The purpose of the training was to

  1. To equip the participants with skills on  how to advocate for environmental sustainability
  2. To train the participants on relevant policies and frameworks related to Mining and environmental protection and conservation
  3. To promote individuals understanding on environmental sustainability

During the training, the participants expressed gratitude to CRTP-Hekima University College for organizing and prioritizing the training sessions. They acknowledged the institution’s continued support for environmental sustainability initiatives.
