The Centre for Research, Training, and Publication (CRTP) in collaboration with the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR), South Africa and the International Peace Institute (IPI) in New York, organized a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) and Policy Roundtable Discussion on African Perspectives on the Emerging Global Order. This research is done in Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria. The event took place on Tuesday, 18th February 2025, at Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations.  The discussion brought on board different experts from the academia, researchers, CSOs, lawyers, think tanks, religious leaders, policy makers as well as government officials. The discussion mainly centered on the current and future role of Africa in the global order as well as the enabling/constraining factors that will shape Africa activeness in the global politics. The policy round table discussion discussed the Africa Agenda 2063 and pact for the future, where different groups discussed the priorities and policy challenges affecting the full and successful implementation of the Africa Agenda 2063 and pact for the future. Some of the key thematic areas discussed were peace and security, global governance, sustainable development and financing, education, human rights, gender, youths and climate change. From the discussion it was evident that African Union has not fully achieved its intended purpose why it was formed. This call for restructuring of its organs, roles and implementation strategies.   In conclusion,  the participants echoed that that Africa is capable of doing a lot in the global arena  and with appropriate structures and policies in place then Africa will be key player in the global order rather than just being a spectator. The publication of the key findings of this discussion will be out upon completion of the research.
