The Centre for Research Training and Publications (CRTP) conducted a field monitoring visit for Environmental Advocacy Support in Extractive Industries (EASEI) Project from 10th to 16th February 2025 in Kwale and Migori Counties. The Migori visit was conducted between 10th and 14th February 2025 by Program Officer –Mr. Hezbon Awiti and Ms. Dephney Anyumba while the Kwale visit was done by Director Prof. Elias Opongo between 12th to 16th February, 2025. The purpose of the field visit was to assess the actual situation of the trees that were planted in the previous years since the project started. The field report from both Migori and Kwale revealed that the trees are doing well with the last batch of seedlings planted in October/November 2024 facing some challenges in some groups. The challenges reported by the groups were destruction of the seedlings by animals and termites as well as stunted growth due to climate variability and soil type. Despite the challenges, the groups from both counties appreciated the impact and transformation the project has done in their lives through training and tree planting.
